Ate van Apeldoorn cubic desk chair, 1970s
Modernist armchair in solid pine wood and brown fabric by the well-known wood craftsman Ate van Apeldoorn, designed and crafted by hand during the 70s in his own workshop in Hattem, The Netherlands.
The designs of Ate van Apeldoorn have a certain robustness due to the the use of untreated pine wood and the abstract geometry of many of his designs.
The square geometrical shape of the pine wood frame really stands out. The wood connection on the slats is visible on the outer edges, a typical feature of Van Apeldoorn designs. The seat and backrest are placed slightly tilted within the square frame providing for an interesting contrast in geometry.
