Set of 4 dining chairs by Tapiovaara, Finland 1970s

€3,400.00

A set of four Mid-Century dining chairs featuring solid beechwood frames with cylindrical legs and stretcher details, complemented by dark brown leather upholstery.

This design is by Ilmari Tapiovaara (Finland) for La Permanente Cantù made in Italy in the 1970s.

Unlike the original documented upholstery, which feature a hanging leather sling seat, these chairs have a solid seat with an internal base, offering a slightly firmer and more supportive sitting experience.

The design—characterized by its rolled top edge, exposed joinery, and gently sculpted proportions—exemplifies the refined blend of Scandinavian simplicity and Italian craftsmanship typical of La Permanente Cantù’s.

In good vintage condition with typical signs of wear, including some creasing, scratching, and scuffs, as shown in the photos.
